Description
Through your travels in Alyria you will come across many merchants seeking to sell you goods and services, or buy goods from you.
You can buy many different types of goods and services from shopkeepers, such as weapons, magical spells, horses, pets, etc.
Shops usually only have a limited amount of inventory on hand. Once that inventory is depleted, you must wait until the shopkeeper replenishes their supply. Depending on the item, this can take days, weeks, or months. Usually the more exotic the item, the less the shopkeeper will have in stock, and the longer it takes them to acquire more.
Most of the shopkeepers in Alyria take gold in exchange for their wares, but some specialized shops only accept other currency. The Van Pelt family and their agents sell special items in exchange for Reward Units, quest masters require quest points to buy their goods, and some shops sell items for use by clans in clanhalls, and require maleficarum roots.
Players can also run their own shops by making use of the VENDOR command within the Alyrian Bazaar. See 'HELP VENDOR' for more information.
Shop List
Displays a list of items available for purchase, their prices, and item numbers. Some shopkeepers may not have anything available for purchase. For instance, a merchant who only buys items and then sells them to a specific people or a group.
Be sure to check the SHOP LIST before referencing an item by number, as these numbers can change based on the shopkeeper's inventory.
You can restrict the SHOP LIST to just display the items in a level range from to .
You can also search for a specific text match, or a wildcard text match, e.g., SHOP LIST costume. This can be combined with level searching via the SHOP LIST syntax.
Search strings can include the following wildcards:
- Matches everything (e.g., fred, or fred or fred)
- ? Matches a single character (e.g., fr?d)
- SHOP BUY [] <item name or number>
- Allows you to buy an item from a shopkeeper. You may reference the item
- either by the item number displayed using 'SHOP LIST' or by the item name.
- If there are several items with the same name it is usually best to use
- the item number, or you can specify the exact item name by surrounding it
- with single quotes like so: SHOP BUY 'item name'.
- To buy multiple quantities of an item at a time, you may specify an
- amount. You may buy anywhere from 1 to 500 quantities of an item at a
- time, assuming there are that many available in the shopkeeper's
- inventory.
- SHOP BUY will check both your gold on hand and in your default bank
- account when making a purchase.
