Synopsis
search
search stop
Description
Search lets you locate items that have been hidden in your current location. It will also reveal hidden exits. When you start searching, you will continue searching for awhile - each "round" of the search action you will have another chance to discover if there is anything in that location.
Certain magical objects can be used to 'detect' hidden items, as well as some magical spells.
Search makes use of the 'perception' proficiency, as well as the character attributes of knowledge and luck.
Usually if you have not discovered anything by the time a search action completes, there is likely nothing there, but that isn't always the case (your 'perception' proficiency makes a difference here) and sometimes you may need to use the search action more than once.
Searching in a home you own will automatically cause any hidden exits to be discovered on the first try. Searching for items that have always belonged to you can be found twice as easily. Searching for exits in a specific direction will also be twice as successful.
Typing search again, "search stop", or using any other actionable commands (commands that cause your character to do something) after you have initiated a search will cause the search to stop prematurely.
