Synopsis
use <item> [<target>]
Description
This command allows you to use a magical orb, staff, wand, or scroll on a target, or a warp stone on yourself. The item must be held before it can be used.
If a target is not specified and you are currently in combat, the creature you are fighting will be used as the target (if a target is needed).
Please note that items such as wands, staves, and orbs have limited uses (charges) and once the item has run out of charges, it will consume itself.
With few exceptions, only items of the following types may be USEd: wands staves orbs scrolls food pills potions drink containers warp-stone manuals artifacts trap-kits spades pick-axes tools fountains
Some items that are not in the above list can also be USEd. They will almost always have an indication that this is the case in their descriptions.
Some locations in the game have special enchantments that will essentially "drain" charged magical items if they are used there. If you use a magical item once that had several charges at the time and it consumes itself or otherwise disappears, it's possible you may be in one of those locations.
